Ti’ Savon in Rivière-Saas-et-Gourby, cold process soaps according to the ancestral method

“No fuss, no frou-frou, no gossip. Rustic, Noble, Sweet. Point !” this is what Raphaël Mertens, the founder of Ti’Savon in Rivière-Saas-et-Gourby, tells you at the outset to sum up the philosophy that drives his way of conceiving the soaps he makes in his workshop.
His concept has been working for five years, first in Martinique, and now in the Landes where he has returned with his family.
First of all, cold saponification is the method that prevailed for centuries before the industry heated vegetable oils to go faster, and therefore produce more. In cold saponification, vegetable oils retain their properties.
Then, Raphaël offers a rustic soap, simple but as natural as possible. Unlike his colleagues who also practice cold saponification, with him, you will not find any perfume, preservative, or even essential oil.

Only ingredients with recognized virtues

On the other hand, all the Ti’savon are enriched with honey that comes from the short circuit, from Apis-Mellona in Hossegor or Api-Melli in St-Lon-les-Mines. There are also fresh medicinal plants, clays and spices as long as these ingredients have recognized virtues for the skin. This is how some soaps contain Rookyto cocoa from Saubion, peanuts from the Darrigade farm in Soustons, or roasted Volt coffee in Hossegor.
Molded soaps (not cut) of 90g cost 5€. There are 18g ones which cost 1€, and you can also use the Tite’washing powder at 6€ for 5kg.
Ti’savon can be purchased at the AMAPS in Castets, Tyrosse, St-Paul-lès-Dax and Soustons as well as in the markets of Dax, St-Paul-lès-Dax, Tosse, Vieux-Boucau and Léon
