The Senators have the upper hand 5-4 over the Red Wings
Tim Stützle scored in overtime to give the Ottawa Senators a 5-4 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday in Game 1 of the Overall Series.
The Senators led 4-0 early in the second period, but the Red Wings had a thunderous second period to tie the game after 40 minutes of play.
Brady Tkachuk scored two goals in the victory. Jake Sanderson and Josh Norris also found the back of the net. Stutzle, Drake Batherson and Vladimir Tarasenko all finished the game with two assists. Joonas Korpisalo stopped 37 pucks.
“It’s not really the way we wanted to win, but sometimes that’s how things happen,” Norris said. We tightened the game in the third period, and then “Timmy” gave us the victory with a spectacular goal. »
Lucas Raymond, Alex DeBrincat, David Perron and Shayne Gostisbehere scored for the Red Wings. James Reimer made 29 saves.

Tkachuk scored the first two goals of the game, at 5:57 and 9:57 of play. On the second goal, Stutzle passed him the disc with a superb pass from behind, on his knees.
Sanderson gave the Senators a three-goal lead at 13:09 of the first period, when his shot from the slot went between Reimer’s arm and the post.
Norris scored on a play with Mathieu Joseph to make it 4-0 early in the second period.
Raymond gave the Red Wings an opening goal during a two-on-one. He decided to shoot and hit the goalkeeper under the arm. It was the 25the shot of the Red Wings game.
The Red Wings cut the lead to 4-2 when a shot from the point deflected off Perron and went over Korpisalo’s head midway through the period.
DeBrincat scored at 16:33, then Gostisbehere tied the game less than a minute later.
