Predators beat Devils 4-3 in overtime

Mikael Granlund tied the game with nine seconds left in the third period. The Predators had just passed a successful penalty when Granlund forced a tiebreaker.

Colton Sissons also scored for the Predators, who have won their last seven games at the Prudential Center.

Kevin Bahl, Jesper Bratt and Alexander Holtz replied for the Devils. They hit the target within 2:38 range early in the second period, putting the Devils up 3-2.

MacKinnon added three assists while Compher had two for the Avalanche, which posted a fifth win in its last seven games.

Artturi Lehkonen and Mikko Rantanen rounded out the scoring for the Colorado squad. Alexandar Georgiev made 24 saves.

Tage Thompson, Alex Tuch, JJ Peterka and Dylan Cozens shone the red light for the Sabers, who have lost three of their last four outings. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen blocked 28 shots.

The Sabers led 2-1, but the Avalanche took the lead for good when MacKinnon and Lehkonen scored on the power play within 49 seconds.

The Sabers came within one goal on two occasions, to go 4-3 and 5-4, but were unable to tie the game.

Robertson became the NHL’s first 20-goal scorer this season when he deflected a puck into the net during the first period. He thus increased his streak of games with at least one point to 17. The Stars record is 20 and it was set by Brian Bellows in 1986.
