Pastrnak scores all Bruins goals in winning cause
David Pastrnak completed the 12and career hat trick, including the eventual game-winning goal with 4:10 remaining in the third period, as the Boston Bruins defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 on Thursday night.
The win allowed the Bruins to double the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions in the National Hockey League Eastern Conference standings.
The Bruins started the game one point behind the Lightning. They finished the night with 85 points, tied with the Toronto Maple Leafs for second in the Atlantic Division. The Lightning total 84 points and rank fourth.
Jeremy Swayman stopped 22 shots for the Bruins, who have won 12 of their last 14 outings and are 25-9 since New Years Day.
Brandon Hagel and Steven Stamkos offered the Lightning reply. Goalkeeper Andrei Vasilevskiy made 36 saves.
Pastrnak’s first two goals tied the game for the Bruins. Elsewhere, Erik Haula was instrumental in all of the Bruins’ goals on his first night of three NHL assists.
In his first game with the Bruins, Hampus Lindholm had an assist.

Senators beat Jets 5-2
The Ottawa Senators scored three times in just over three minutes in the third period and defeated the Winnipeg Jets 5-2 on Thursday night.
Brady Tkachuk scored two of the goals for the Senators (23-36-5), who had lost five of their previous six games before meeting the Jets.
Tim Stützle and Michael Del Zotto each had two assists.
Tyler Ennis, Colin White and Connor Brown collected the other Senators goals. Goalkeeper Anton Forsberg blocked 22 shots.
For the Jets (30-25-10), Kyle Connor hit his 40and fillet of the season. Josh Morrissey also hit the mark for the Manitoba team.
At his 55and game of the season, Connor Hellebuyck saved 28 pucks.

Brock Nelson and the Islanders put on a show against the Red Wings
Brock Nelson hit the target twice, Ilya Sorokin made 37 saves and the New York Islanders defeated the Detroit Red Wings 5-2 on Thursday for their sixth straight home win.
Anthony Beauvillier scored just nine seconds into the game. Oliver Wahlstrom and Josh Bailey also scored for the Islanders, who are 7-1-1 in their last nine games.
Anders Lee had three assists while Mathew Barzal had two.
After starting the season with a 0-5-2 record at their new home, the Islanders are now 17-7-2 at UBS Arena.
Pius Suter and Sam Gagner rocked the ropes for the Red Wings.
Thomas Greiss stopped 21 shots in his first game against his former team since signing for the Red Wings last season.

Konecny scores twice in Flyers win
Travis Konecny scored twice, Hayden Hodgson had a goal and an assist in his NHL debut and the Philadelphia Flyers beat the St. Louis Blues 5-2 on Thursday.
The Flyers snapped a 13-game road losing streak, winning for the first time since Dec. 29 in Seattle against the Kraken.
Patrick Brown and Joel Farabee also scored for the Flyers. Martin Jones stopped 26 shots in the win.
Cam York and Kevin Hayes each had two assists.
Vladimir Tarasenko and Alexei Torpchenko led the charge for the Blues as they rattled the strings.
Jordan Binnington has blocked 22 shots for the Blues, who have lost three of their last four games.

Joel Eriksson Ek plays heroes in overtime against Canucks
Joel Eriksson Ek scored 31 seconds into overtime and the Minnesota Wild continued their good run with a 3-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday.
Kirill Kaprizov had a goal and an assist for the Wild, which has won four straight games. Kevin Fiala also hit the mark for the Wild, which has gone 6-1-1 in its last eight games.
Cam Talbot blocked 26 shots in the win, a seventh in a row for the goaltender.
Bo Horvat and JT Miller scored for the Canucks.
Thatcher Demko stopped 33 shots for the Canucks. Bruce Boudreau’s squad have won just two of their last eight games.

Oilers easily beat Sharks
Leon Draisaitl hit the target twice and the Edmonton Oilers snapped a two-game losing streak with a 5-2 win over the San Jose Sharks on Thursday.
Kailer Yamamoto, Derick Brassard and Evander Kane also rattled the ropes for the Oilers (36-24-5), who improved to 6-1-1 in their last eight meetings.
Erik Karlsson and Tomas Hertl sounded the cue for the Sharks (28-28-8), who were defeated for the first time in three games.
In his first game with the Sharks, Kaapo Kahkonen stopped 36 shots.
Mike Smith blocked 28 of 30 shots for the Oilers goal.
