Goalkeeper Daniil Tarasov celebrates with his teammates at the end of the match.

A short-handed goal from Alexandre Texier in the second period proved to be the winning net on Thursday as the Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the Calgary Flames 5-2.

The Ohio club was the last in the National Hockey League that had still not scored short of a man this season.

Yegor Chinakhov, Damon Severson, Dmitri Voronkov, and Adam Fantilli also found the back of the net for the Blue Jackets, who have lost just two of their last eight regulation games on the road.

Daniil Tarasov made 28 saves to score the victory. He has three out of nine decisions.

MacKenzie Weegar and Connor Zary were the scorers for the Flames, who lost a fourth straight game. Jacob Markstrom stopped 27 pucks.

With a one-goal deficit, the Flames tried to come from behind for the eighth time this season after 40 minutes of play.

Quebec’s Jonathan Huberdeau, however, received a major penalty for giving way to Jack Roslovic at 11:28 and their opponents took the opportunity to increase their lead.
