Pietrangelo and the Golden Knights defeat the Coyotes 4-1

Alex Pietrangelo had a goal and two assists as the Vegas Golden Knights beat the Arizona Coyotes 4-1 on Thursday.

William Carrier, Mark Stone and Reilly Smith also rattled the ropes to help the Golden Knights end a two-game losing streak. Logan Thompson made 25 saves while Jonathan Marchessault had two assists.

The Golden Knights improved to 17-7-0 against the Coyotes, including 10-3-0 at home. Golden Knights forward Phil Kessel competed in his 1,000e consecutive game.

Clayton Keller scored for the Coyotes to extend his streak with one point to six. Karel Vejmelka blocked 35 shots.

The Devils win an 11e straight game

Yegor Sharangovich scored the winning goal in overtime.

Yegor Sharangovich scored 57 seconds into overtime, Vitek Vanecek made 25 saves and the New Jersey Devils beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 on Thursday for an 11e consecutive victory.

Nico Hischier and Jesper Bratt also hit the target for the Devils (14-3-0).

Sharangovich scored his fourth goal of the season when he pounced on a return in front of the net after Matt Murray blocked a Jack Hughes shot.

The Devils won an 11e game in a row for the third time in club history. The Florida Panthers had their longest winning streak last season with 13 straight wins.

Auston Matthews, with a goal and an assist, and William Nylander provided the response for the Maple Leafs (9-5-4), who got 30 saves from Murray. Mitch Marner added an assist to extend his one-point streak to 11 games, the longest active streak in the NHL.

Lehkonen plays heroes for the Avalanche in overtime

Artturi Lehkonen threaded the needle 1:55 into overtime to give the Colorado Avalanche a 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday.

Evan Rodrigues and Alex Newhook also hit the target for the Avalanche, who were outshot in every period of regulation time and 48-15 overall.

The Avalanche, defending Stanley Cup champions, scored their first overtime win of the year on their third attempt.

Pavel Francouz blocked 46 shots as the Avalanche defeated the Hurricanes for the second time in six nights.

Martin Necas had a goal and an assist, and Sebastian Aho also scored for the Hurricanes. Antti Raanta made 12 saves.

The Stars defeat the Panthers 6-4

The Dallas Stars scored four goals in the first period and held on to defeat the Florida Panthers 6-4 on Thursday night.

The Stars, however, lost the services of their goaltender Scott Wedgewood, who left the game on a stretcher moments after stopping a shot from Anton Lundell in the second period.

Wedgewood finished his night on the job with 21 saves and the Stars led 5-2 at the time of his injury. There was still no information released regarding his injury.

Roope Hintz scored twice as Nils Lundkvist, Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin and Ty Dellandrea all threaded the needle on one occasion for the Stars.

The Panthers, who had to manage without their captain Aleksander Barkov, saw Carter Verhaeghe, Eetu Luostarinen, Sam Reinhart and Matthew Tkachuk move the ropes.

Sergei Bobrovsky started the game for the Panthers and allowed four goals on 11 shots in the first period. Spencer Knight took over and stopped 16 of the 17 pucks he faced.

Lightning win 4-1 over Flames

Nikita Kucherov scored two goals, Andrei Vasilevskiy made 39 saves and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Calgary Flames 4-1 on Thursday night.

Steven Stamkos had a goal and an assist and Philippe Myers added a game for the Lightning.

Mikhail Sergachev had two assists for the Tampa Bay squad. He has seven points in his last three games.

Elias Lindholm was the only scorer for the Flames, who had just signed two straight wins. Jacob Markstrom stopped 20 pitches.

Stamkos scored his 490e career NHL goal, tying Norm Ullman at 49e rank in league history.

Sidney Crosby scores four points in Penguins win

Sidney Crosby had two goals and two assists to lead the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 6-4 win over the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night.

Ryan Poehling, Kris Letang, Brock McGinn and Jake Guentzel also found the back of the net for the Pittsburgh squad.

Tristan Jarry stopped 19 pucks for the Penguins, who are 3-1-1 after losing seven straight games.

Joel Eriksson Ek scored twice for the Wild. Brandon Duhaime and Matt Dumba added a goal each.

Filip Gustavsson made 26 saves, replacing Marc-André Fleury, who is still struggling with an injury.

Connor gives Jets victory over Ducks

Kyle Connor completed his hat trick by scoring the game-winning goal with 53.5 seconds left in the third period to give the Winnipeg Jets a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday.

Connor took advantage of a perfect pass from forward Mark Scheifele to deceive the vigilance of Ducks goalie John Gibson.

Connor Hellebuyck stopped 29 of 31 shots for the Jets (10-4-1).

Trevor Zegras and Troy Terry provided the response for the Ducks (5-11-1). Gibson made 29 saves in the loss.

Going into Saturday’s game against the St. Louis Blues, the Ducks are yet to win a game in regulation this season.

Blues beat Capitals in shootout

Thomas Greiss stopped 47 shots and signed a first victory for the Blues.

Pavel Buchnevich scored in the sixth round of the shootout as the St. Louis Blues edged the Washington Capitals 5-4 on Thursday night.

Buchenevich also hit the mark in regulation time for the Blues, as did Ryan O’Reilly, Brayden Schenn and Torey Krug.

Thomas Greiss stopped 47 shots and scored his first win with the St. Louis squad.

The Blues signed a fifth consecutive victory, after setting a team record by suffering eight defeats in a row.

John Carlson has threaded the needle twice for the Capitals, who have lost eight of their last 10 outings. Alex Ovechkin had a goal and two assists while Conor Sheary scored once.

Charlie Lindgren finished with 20 saves in his first appearance against the Blues, with whom he went 5-0-0 in five games last season.

The Predators defeat the Islanders 5-4

Juuso Parssinen had two goals and an assist as the Nashville Predators extended their winning streak to three with a 5-4 win over the New York Islanders on Thursday.

Filip Forsberg, Colton Sissons and Nino Niederreiter also hit the mark for the Predators. Juuse Saros made 29 saves while defenseman Roman Josi had four assists.

Ryan McDonagh, who was competing in an 800e career NHL game, had an assist.

In the loss, Adam Pelech and Jean-Gabriel Pageau each had a goal and an assist. Cal Clutterbuck and Kyle Palmieri also rocked the ropes and Ilya Sorokin made 26 saves for the Islanders, who saw their two-game winning streak snapped.
