Thursday fight against Marcelo Caceres | Osleys Iglesias does not make weight at the official weigh-in

(Montreal) Eye of the Tiger Management was eager to present its new jewel, the super middleweight Osleys Iglesias, to the Montreal public. The International Boxing Organization (IBO) world champion, however, experienced setbacks in his return, being unable to make weight for his first fight on Quebec soil.


Iglesias (9-0, 8 KOs) weighed 168.9 pounds instead of the regulation 168 for his fight against Argentinian Marcelo Caceres (32-6-1, 18 KOs). O.), who for his part respected the limit for this 10-round fight.

Iglesias’ belt is not on the line for this duel. The Cuban will, however, have to remit 20% of his purse to Coceres.

Camille Estephan, president of EOTTM who has praised the talents of the pugilist based in Berlin, Germany, since his arrival in the stable, did not seem too worried by this violation of the rules of his new protégé.

The duel between Iglesias and Coceres will be presented in the semi-final of Thursday’s gala at the Cabaret du Casino de Montréal. Steven Butler (33-4-1, 27 KOs) and Steve Rolls (22-3, 12 KOs) will secure the final. Both Butler (160) and Rolls (159) respected the weight limit for this middleweight duel.

Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse (6-1, 2 KOs) and Abril Argentina Vidal (10-1, 4 KOs), at 173.3 and 170.1 pounds respectively, both met the limit of 175 pounds imposed for their world championship fight. The two pugilists will try to get their hands on the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight title.

Lepage-Joanisse will attempt to become the first female boxer since David Lemieux at EOTTM to get her hands on a championship belt.

Arthur Biyarslanov, Luis Santana, Mehmet Unal, Jhon Orobio and Wilkens Mathieu will also be in action. All these beautiful people and their opponents respected the imposed limits. The first shots will be exchanged from 7 p.m. The gala is sold out, but can be followed on PunchingGrace.com.
