Since midday, Thursday, September 8, the whole world has been holding its breath. Back to the last moments before the fateful announcement of the death of Elizabeth II.
Queen Elizabeth II died Thursday, September 8, at the age of 96, at Balmoral Castle, Scotland. The BBC presenter announced it in a deep voice: “Moments ago Buckingham Palace announced the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The statement explains that the Queen passed away peacefully at Balmoral.”
By midday, the entire royal family had converged at his bedside, in his summer residence. Princes Andrew and Edward in the same car, Prince William at the wheel. The faces were closed. Prince Harry, too, joined them a little later. Earlier in the afternoon, in Parliament, Prime Minister Liz Truss approached the speaker, then in the middle of a debate in the House of Commons. She had then read a note concerning the state of health of Elizabeth II, then had left the room. A few minutes later, the deputies had given their support. Since the announcement of the monarch’s death, a crowd of Britons has gathered outside the gates of Buckingham Palace. Thursday evening, the whole world mourns the one who reigned for 70 years.
