With the rise in prices, dressing in a thrift store can be cheaper. This action is also ecological, since the clothes are second-hand.

Dressing in thrift stores allows you to dress cheaper with second-hand. Some brands allow you to buy clothes by weight, from 20 euros to 60 euros per kg. These lower prices are attracting more and more customers of all ages. “I always like to find things that are different”, says a woman. The second-hand market is popular. In 2021, 36% of French people bought second-hand.

In a warehouse in Rouen (Seine-Maritime), many clothes are stored. Every week, 30 tons are delivered from Europe, Asia or the United States. “All these clothes that you see there, you have to know that at the base, they were donated by individuals”, says Éric Rey, Director of Retail Group DB Invest Eureka. The clothes are then repaired or recycled, then sorted. Second-hand clothes end their journey on hangers, it is here that their prices in stores are set.
