19/20 info takes stock of the information from the last 24 hours in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

Ukraine is experiencing its 659th day of conflict, Thursday December 14. Russia’s drone attack towards Odessa, the failure of the Ukrainian counter-offensive and the delivery of shells to kyiv by South Korea… Here is what we should remember from this day.

Image of the day: around forty drones intercepted near Odessa

On the night of Wednesday December 13 to Thursday December 14, Russia launched a drone attack towards Odessa. Of the 42 drones launched, 41 were intercepted by anti-aircraft defense. No deaths were reported, but nine people were injured and 11 buildings were damaged.

Sentence of the day: “On the ground, the long-awaited counter-offensive did not take place,” says Peer de Jong

Peer de Jong, a former French marine colonel and military expert who is now vice-president of the Thémis institute, said that “Ukraine needs men, equipment, ammunition and strategy. On the ground, the long-awaited counter-offensive did not take place.” The troops were unable to break through the Russian lines and due to a lack of ammunition, the Ukrainians had to save their strikes.

Today’s figure: 330,000 shells delivered to Ukraine by South Korea

South Korea will deliver 330,000 155-millimeter shells to kyiv in 41 days, according to the Washington Post. The country would be the leading supplier in volume ahead of all European countries combined. But it cannot directly deliver lethal equipment to other countries at war. Delivery will therefore be indirect through the United States.
