Three Saint-Laurent school basketball coaches have been charged with various sex crimes

The three basketball coaches from Montreal’s Saint-Laurent high school, arrested yesterday, appeared Thursday morning at the Montreal courthouse. They were charged with various crimes of a sexual nature, some committed when the complainants were minors, for a total of eight counts.

Only Charles-Xavier Boislard, 43, was released on conditions.

The public prosecutor opposed the release of Daniel Lacasse, 43, and Robert Luu, 31, who will remain in detention for the time being.

They will soon be able to undergo an investigation for release and it is then a judge who will decide whether or not they should remain behind bars for the rest of the criminal proceedings.

The acts of which the three men are accused were committed between 2008 and 2017.

Robert Luu is charged with three counts, namely sexual assault, sexual interference with a minor, as well as having incited a teenager under the age of 16 to perform sexual acts.

The same counts are alleged against Charles-Xavier Boislard, who also received a charge of sexual exploitation of a person with whom he had a relationship of trust.

A count was filed against Daniel Lacasse, that of sexual exploitation.

The Marguerite-Bourgeoys School Service Center reacted on Wednesday in a press release. “We have just been informed that members of the staff of the Saint-Laurent school were arrested this afternoon. We take the situation very seriously, said the general manager, Dominic Bertrand. We will remain in contact with the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal and will implement all recommendations and directives that may be made to us. »

The identity of the complainants will obviously remain confidential throughout the criminal proceedings.
