Three-Rivers | Septuagenarian dies in backyard crash

(Trois-Rivières) A ​​man lost his life following an accident in a backyard on rue François-Nobert, in Trois-Rivières, on Friday afternoon.

A driver hit the 76-year-old man while backing up. The victim was dragged a few meters and became trapped under the vehicle.

The police, firefighters and paramedics dispatched to the scene lifted the vehicle to free the victim. The man was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver was also transported to the hospital to treat a violent nervous shock, according to the direction of the police of Trois-Rivières.

The investigators on the spot established that the driver would have requested the help of her neighbor to help her in a maneuver of reversing, to approach a shed where she had to store tires.

The first elements of the investigation suggest that “the lady would have confused the accelerator and the brake, which would have had the effect of hitting the victim and dragging him for a few meters, in the backyard of his home”, police said in a statement.
