The cities of Saguenay, La Conception and Shefford now have new addresses that stand out for their bright design, in complete harmony with nature, and an approach that takes into account the principles of sustainable development. An overview of these projects where windows erase the boundaries that separate indoor and outdoor spaces.
1. Grey banks
With its feet in the Saguenay Fjord, the house unveiled by Matière Première Architecture combines elements of urban design while fully respecting its positioning in the heart of nature. “The name “Berges grises” is directly inspired by these landscapes sculpted by nature, embodying our vision of architecture contemplating its environment,” explains Etienne Chaussé, architect at Matière Première Architecture.
The space, in the shape of an H, totaling 420 m2is divided into three volumes: the bedrooms, the suites and the garage. The second includes the living areas, including a large living room. They are connected by a third central element. The choice of cedar and a brick in a matching shade ensures perfect integration into the privileged environment in which the construction stands.
For the latter, a prefabricated frame was chosen. This made it possible to limit the duration of the work and to be more discreet on the environmental ecosystem. Special precautions were taken to ensure that the bank was preserved.
2. 46N74O Alt. 280
This residence, built not far from Mont-Tremblant, was designed by integrating the principles of Feng Shui and its five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Particular attention was paid to every detail, giving this home, named 46N74O Alt. 280, a powerful energy combining elegance and nature.
“Our goal for 46N74O Alt. 280 was to create a space where simplicity and elegance interact with the surrounding nature. Every gesture, every material was carefully chosen to preserve the very essence of this exceptional place and integrate it with sobriety and elegance,” explains Patrick Blanchette, associate president and principal architect at Blanchette archi.design.
A wood and concrete structure was preferred, with large windows that reveal impressive panoramas and sustainable materials such as anodized aluminum and natural cedar. Outside, a concrete terrace, a spa and a sauna transform the space into a true wellness resort. The furniture of this sumptuous 325 m residence2 was also custom designed and drawn by the architecture and interior design firm Blanchette archi.design.
3. Shefford House
With this project that combines modernity and nature, MXMA Architecture & Design and Catlin Stothers Design have demonstrated the potential and creativity of their expertise in architecture and interior design. Maison Shefford, perched atop the mountain of the same name in the Eastern Townships, is a true sanctuary for the owners and their two children.
Green roof, motorized shutters and recessed ceilings for better regulation of the interior temperature, rainwater recovery system, a selection of materials made considering criteria of sustainability, short circuit and environmental certifications, several actions were taken to favor the creation of a sustainable building and coherent with the surrounding nature. “All the materials were selected for their inherent natural textures and their relationship with the exterior environment. It was important for the clients that the interiors be modern and minimalist, while being comfortable, welcoming and pleasant to live in”, explains Catlin Stothers.
Each of the spaces in the residence, which extends over 580 m2is bathed in light. Built on three levels, with a garden level, the house has been fully adapted to the topography of the land, at the highest point of Mount Shefford. To accentuate this feeling of height, the master bedroom opens onto a private terrace that invites contemplation.
