Three Quebec films rewarded at FIFEM

Three Quebec films are among the winners of the 26e edition of the Montreal International Children’s Film Festival (FIFEM), unveiled on Monday.


Since they garnered the most votes from moviegoers, Quebec feature films Katak, the brave belugaby Christine Dallaire-Dupont and Nicola Lemay, as well as firm coconutby Sébastien Gagné, were both awarded the Audience Award.

firm coconut also won the UDA Performance Prize thanks to the performance of young actor Joey Bélanger. “The wide range and accuracy of his acting” were highlighted by the professional jury.

This same jury awarded the Grand Prix de Montréal for the best feature film to the Quebec film Jules in the land of Asha, directed by Sophie Farkas Bolla. As for short films, it rewarded the Canadian work Corvineby Sean McCarron.

At FIFEM, a jury made up of children also awards prizes. He chose to award the Montreal Grand Prix to beyond the border (Eltre it confines), by the Italian Alessandro Valenti. In the category of best short film, the children’s jury rewarded the Swiss animated film queen of foxesdirected by Marina Rosset.

The FIFEM took place from February 25 to March 5.
