Three police officers injured after refusing to comply in Wittenheim in Haut-Rhin, suspect arrested

Three police officers were injured after a refusal to comply in Wittenheim, near Mulhouse in Haut-Rhin, early Saturday May 11, reports France Bleu Alsace. “The alleged perpetrator’s vehicle drove into the police vehicle following the check carried out by the police officers present on the site”specifies the Mulhouse public prosecutor’s office which indicates that “the alleged perpetrator has been arrested”. An investigation was opened for attempted intentional homicide and refusal to comply.

This refusal to comply took place on a “on a roundabout that the alleged perpetrator took in the opposite direction”. The three police officers, aged 24, 35 and 36, were injured in the head-on collision. One of the police officers seems “seriously injured with a suspected fracture of the pelvis and leg” but “no vital prognosis is involved”says the prosecution. “Given the state of the vehicles, we really came close to tragedy,” reacts Billel Debbiche, departmental secretary of the Un1té Haut-Rhin police union. The union addresses “all his support” to his injured colleagues.

The driver of the vehicle that drove into the police crew was also injured. Aged 37, he was taken to hospital and should be taken into police custody once his state of health is deemed compatible.
