Three people were indicted this Friday for attempted murder by an organized gang, the Marseille prosecutor’s office told France Bleu Provence, in the investigation opened after the attack suffered by three Olympique de Marseille players last May. The three people are suspected of having shot at the vehicles of three OM footballers in the 12th arrondissement of Marseille.
On the night of May 19-20, around 3am, the vehicles of two Olympique de Marseille players, Faris Moumbagna and Jean Onana, were fired upon. Jean Onana, Faris Moumbagna and Bamo Meïté were on board.
According to the Marseille prosecutor’s office, they had just left the Commanderie training center, returning from a match in Le Havre (1-2), for the last day of the Ligue 1 season. They had then gotten lost in the car because of their GPS, according to the Marseille prosecutor’s office. The players found themselves in a dead end, face to face with three dealers who did not recognize them and thought they were settling scores. They then opened fire on the footballers’ vehicles.
Faris Moumbagna’s car was hit, causing him to leave the road. Several bullet holes were found on the players’ SUVs. There were no injuries.
The three suspects arrested and charged are already known to the police. Two are aged 22 and one is 18. They were placed in pre-trial detention after confessing to the facts during interrogation.
