Three people including two minors placed in police custody after the attack on the mayor of Saint-Macaire

The assault shocked the whole town. A week to the day after the surge of violence against Cédric Gerbeau, the mayor of Saint-Macaire, three people were arrested and taken into police custody Wednesday 15 December. Two of them are minors and were presented to the children’s judge on Wednesday evening for violence in a meeting with a weapon and death threats on a public officer. The third arrested, major, is the father of one of the two young people. He will be judged in immediate appearance this Thursday for threat of crime or misdemeanor on a public officer.

Wednesday, December 8, the mayor of Saint-Macaire was taken to task while intervening for a dispute between a resident and members of the travel community installed in the town. According to our colleagues from the South Gironde Republican, a teenage girl had punched Cédric Gerbeau, before another made death threats. The same miner then hit him in the face with a wooden plank. The mayor had received seven days of temporary incapacity for work (ITT).

A rally of support

In the meantime, it is his first deputy, Dominique Scaravetti, who has taken the chair of interim mayor. He spoke on the evening of Wednesday, December 15, during a support rally in front of the town hall of Saint-Macaire. About a hundred residents and mayors of neighboring municipalities came together to denounce the acts of violence against Cédric Gerbeau.
