Here’s what to remember from the news at the start of this morning:
• #ISRAEL_PALESTINE The toll in the Gaza Strip now stands at 1,200 and 5,600 injured, announced the Palestinian Ministry of Health. On the sixth day of the war, Israeli nighttime strikes continued against the Palestinian enclave, from which several rocket salvos were launched towards southern Israel. The Jewish state, for its part, reported 1,200 deaths in Israel, most of them civilians. Last night, Hamas also claimed to have released an Israeli hostage and her two children, without however specifying the place and date of this release.
• #ISRAEL_PALESTINE Emmanuel Macron brings together party leaders at midday at the Elysée to discuss the situation in Israel and the Gaza Strip, as well as the risk of tensions in France. He will address the French in a televised address at 8 p.m. At least 11 French people are dead and 18 others are still missing.
• #ENERGY Aid for the purchase of thermostats, tougher rules to limit lighting in windows and offices… In an interview with several regional dailies, before a conference in Paris, the Minister of Energy Transition Agnès Pannier-Runacher said announced a series of new measures intended to register “in the time” the energy savings undertaken last year in the midst of soaring prices.
• #UKRAINE Three people, including a child, were killed following the fall of debris from a drone shot down by Russia last night in the Belgorod region, bordering Ukraine, announced the governor of the region on Telegram. On Tuesday, another Ukrainian strike killed two civilians in the same area.
