On the eighth day of tensions in Corsica during demonstrations in support of separatist Yvan Colonna, still in a coma after being attacked by a fellow prisoner in Arles prison, three people “in possession of knives, rockets and slingshots, prohibited by prefectural order” were arrested in Bastia, indicates the prefecture of Haute-Corse on Friday evening March 11. “The prefect calls for calm and responsibility to prevent further violence”also indicates the prefecture in a press release.
A rally was first held in front of the prefecture “without incident or notable clashes”, specifies the press release, before about fifty individuals try to attack the police by throwing molotov cocktails. The other gatherings in the department took place in peace.
