Vincent Van Quickenborne was placed under reinforced police surveillance. Three people have been arrested in the Netherlands following a threat “serious” against the Belgian Minister of Justice, announced Saturday, September 24 the federal prosecutor’s office.
According to the Flemish daily Het Laatste Nieuws (in Dutch), firearms were discovered inside a vehicle registered in the Netherlands spotted in front of the home of the minister in the suburbs of Kortrijk (north-west). The federal prosecutor’s office declined to confirm this information.
Their transfer to Belgium requested
In a statement, the prosecution said that the three people had been arrested overnight from Friday to Saturday and that their transfer to Belgium had been requested. He adds having “been made aware within the last week of a possible threat” on the Minister of Justice. An investigation, entrusted to an investigating judge, “quickly indicated that this threat should be taken seriously”.
The Minister will not take part in certain activities provided for in the “next days”. No other details were released about the investigation.
