Three new complaints for rape have been filed against the Parisian gynecologist Émile Daraï, franceinfo learned Friday, November 5 from concordant sources. These three complaints filed Thursday are in addition to three others already filed against the professor.
This gynecologist was the head of the endometriosis center at Tenon hospital in Paris until October 8, before being withdrawn from his responsibilities after these accusations. An investigation was opened for “rape by person having authority over a minor over 15 years” against him on September 28, after the complaint of a young woman of 17 years.
This investigation, initially entrusted to the brigade for the protection of minors, was transferred to the second regional division of the Paris judicial police. The practitioner is also the subject of a complaint for “rape in assembly”, as well as a complaint for “rape of a vulnerable person by person in authority”.
Professor Émile Daraï was deprived of his responsibilities as head of department at Tenon hospital on October 8, the Assistance publique-Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) and Sorbonne University had indicated, so that the internal investigation into the accusations of rape and ill-treatment targeting him could “take place in the greatest serenity”. The conclusions of this investigation, which were due before the end of October, are still not known. In the meantime, the professor can continue to practice, despite the withdrawal of his functions as head of department and teacher.
