Three New Canon Lenses Perfectly Suited for Photography and Videography.

Canon has unveiled three new L-series lenses for full-frame cameras, enhancing its RF lens lineup. The highlights include the RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z, a high-quality telephoto zoom, and two fixed focal lengths, the RF 24mm f/1.4L IS VCM and RF 50mm f/1.4L IS VCM, optimized for video. These lenses feature advanced optics, improved autofocus, and a new aperture ring. The lenses will launch in France this November, with prices ranging from €1599.99 to €3599.99.

Canon has recently unveiled three new high-performance lenses aimed at enhancing both photography and videography for full-frame cameras. This announcement complements last year’s introduction of the Canon RF 24-105mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z lens and the RF 35mm F1.4 L VCM lens launched in June.

Introducing the Latest Lenses

The latest offerings include the Canon RF 70-200mm F2.8L IS USM Z, a versatile wide-aperture telephoto zoom lens, along with two prime lenses: the Canon RF 24mm F1.4L IS VCM and the Canon RF 50mm F1.4L IS VCM.

Zoom Lens Features

The Canon RF 70-200 F2.8 L IS USM Z stands out with its focal range of 70 to 200mm and a constant aperture of f/2.8. Notably, it is the third lens in the Canon RF-mount lineup to offer this range, succeeding the RF 70-200mm F2.8L IS USM and the RF 70-200mm F4L IS USM.

This lens measures 88.5 x 199 mm and weighs 1.11 kg, incorporating 18 elements in 15 groups, including three aspherical lenses, two Super UD glasses, and one UD glass piece, complemented by an 11-blade diaphragm. Its design features internal zooming that maintains its dimensions regardless of the focal length. The minimum focusing distances are 49 cm for short focal lengths and 69 cm for long focal lengths, achieving a maximum magnification factor of 0.3x at 200mm. Additionally, it includes stabilization, parafocal focusing, and minimizes focus breathing, making it suitable for video work.

This zoom lens also supports Canon Power Zoom PZ-E2 or PZ-E2B remote zooms and can be paired with Canon RF X1.4 or X2 teleconverters for added flexibility.

Fixed Focal Length Lenses

In addition to the zoom lens, Canon has introduced two fixed focal length options: the RF 24mm F1.4L IS VCM and the RF 50mm F1.4L IS VCM. These lenses share a design consistent with the previously released RF 35mm F1.4 L VCM, now featuring a focal aperture ring and a more efficient VCM autofocus motor.

Both lenses are equipped with focus breathing correction and parafocal focusing technologies. The minimum focusing distance is set at 40 cm for the 50mm f/1.4 lens and 24 cm for the 24mm f/1.4 lens, allowing for impressive close-up shots.

Pricing and Launch Information

The new Canon lenses will be available in France starting November. The Canon RF 70-200 F2.8 L IS USM Z will be released in both black and white variants, priced at €3599.99. The RF 50mm F1.4L VCM will retail for €1599.99, while the RF 24mm F1.4L VCM is set at €1749.99, both offered exclusively in black.
