Three rural communities in Drôme bought a mobile radar together for 7,000 euros. They take turns using it.
Three municipalities in Drôme financed a new radar costing 7,000 euros. They share it in turns and the presence of this radar seems to reassure motorists. “I think it’s good, because traffic inside the villages is often very high”, indicates a man. Other motorists are less convinced. “If they are installed wisely, it can be useful”assures a man.
Speed often too high
One of the localities highlights security reasons. The three municipalities have decided to pool the mobile radar. Faced with regularly excessive speed in their villages, on the Valence – Romans-sur-Isère (Drôme) axis, elected officials wanted to act to try to remedy it. “Our main difficulty is speed in business travel”, explains Christian Gauthier, mayor of Chatuzange-le-Goubet (Drôme). The municipalities lend their radar to the gendarmerie on weekends. Each speeding violation below 50 km/h costs a fine of 135 euros.
