Three Moldovan nationals, suspected of having spray painted coffins in Paris, placed in police custody

The tags, accompanied by the inscription “French soldiers died in Ukraine”, were discovered on Friday in the 7th arrondissement of the capital.

Three men of Moldovan nationality were arrested and placed in custody, franceinfo learned from the Paris prosecutor’s office on Saturday June 8. They are suspected of having carried out stencil tags representing a coffin and accompanied by the registration “French soldiers died in Ukraine”, discovered Friday in the 7th arrondissement of Paris.

Paris territorial security is continuing its investigations as part of an investigation into “damage during a meeting”, “damage during a meeting on a public utility property” and “criminal conspiracy in preparation for a crime”. Several similar cases have arisen in recent weeks. Five coffins were discovered at the foot of the Eiffel Tower with tricolor flags, also bearing the inscription “French soldiers who died in Ukraine”. Three men were placed under the status of assisted witness in this case.

On the night of May 13 to 14, red hands were sprayed on the Holocaust memorial in Paris and the police suspect three people having fled abroad. In October, after the start of the Israel-Hamas war, Stars of David were sprayed on several building facades in the Paris region. The facts, for which a Moldovan couple was arrested, were attributed by the French authorities to the Russian security services.
