Three men aged 37 to 63 have been charged in London with aiding Hong Kong intelligence services and foreign interference, under the British national security law, Scotland Yard announced on Monday (May 13). No further details have been provided at this stage regarding the charges against Chi Leung Wai, 38, Matthew Trickett, 37, and Chung Biu Yuen, 63. According to British police, 11 people in total – 10 men and one woman – were taken into custody in this investigation. This is not linked to a recent case of malicious activities attributed to Russia and the police believe that there is no threat to the public, the head of the anti-terrorism services clarified in a press release. This case comes as two men, one of whom works in the British Parliament, were recently indicted for spying for China – an accusation denied by Beijing – and are due to be tried next year in British justice.
