The worst was committed in the streets of Bordeaux. Sunday September 10, 2023, an Irish woman was found in distress by Welsh supporters. This 37-year-old supporter who came to Gironde to encourage her national team (which played the day before against Romania as part of the Rugby World Cup in France, Editor’s note) said she was raped by three men as she returned to her rental apartment located in the city center.
The facts would have in fact occurred shortly after midnight on rue de la Rousselle, very close to the Quai Richelieu where she rented an apartment during her stay in Bordeaux. According to information fromEurope 1 relayed by our colleagues from The independentthe young woman was returning on foot when she was apprehended by several individuals who quickly dragged her by force into a less busy alley.
Residents then raised the alarm, but before the police arrived, the three men had time to flee… Traumatized, the Irish supporter then returned home.
In shock, the latter was not immediately able to recount her night of horror. Faced with the latter’s understandable silence, the French police then called on the Irish police officers present in the city as part of the world championship in order to collect her testimony and take her to the Bordeaux University Hospital.

Video surveillance cameras used
While the Bordeaux public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into alleged rape, three Caucasian men are actively sought.
If the alley in which the alleged attack took place is devoid of surveillance cameras, video surveillance images of the surrounding streets and the neighborhood are now being studied in order to identify the perpetrators as quickly as possible.
The investigation was entrusted to police officers from the Gironde departmental security.
