3,000 meters of telephone and internet cables were stolen in the north-west of the Somme, France Bleu Picardie learned from Orange on Monday April 22, confirming information from Courrier Picard.

It was on Friday that the operator noticed the theft, which disrupted the service of 500 customers, individuals or businesses. It is mainly the municipalities of Vironchaux, Argoules, Dominois and Machy which are concerned.

Orange does not plan to return to normal “before several weeks” and explains that it is one of the biggest damages he has experienced in Hauts-de-France, since “normally, it’s 300, even 600 meters, that’s huge.” On average, the operator experiences two thefts per day in the region.
