After a fire at the Limoges university hospital center (Haute-Vienne), Aurélien Rousseau, the Minister of Health, will visit the site at 3 p.m. Saturday October 28. An 89-year-old woman, who was hospitalized in palliative care, died late in the morning. The management of the CHU indicates to France Bleu that it “I don’t know if his death was linked to the fire”.

26 patients, including the deceased woman, were moved to other departments in the hospital. Three had to be evacuated in serious condition to the emergency department, indicates France Bleu Limousin. A 51-year-old man is in absolute emergency, the two others in relative emergency.

“All my thoughts with the victims, their loved ones and the staff. Thank you to the mobilized teams and the firefighters, who helped avoid a heavier death toll”writes Aurélien Rousseau on the social network X.

A medico-psychological emergency unit triggered

Eleven staff members and five police officers were inconvenienced by the fumes. Hospital activity will not be disrupted according to France Bleu Limousin. Some operations will nevertheless have to be rescheduled.

The fire broke out around 2:45 a.m. during the night from Friday to Saturday, indicates France Bleu Limousin. Around forty firefighters were mobilized. In a press release, the Limoges University Hospital “There is no evidence to determine the origin of the fire” and that he was mastered “quickly”.

The CHU specifies that the fire started “in a patient’s room in the digestive surgery department, on the 2nd floor wing B of the Dupuytren University Hospital.” The CHU institutional white plan crisis unit has been brought together and the medico-psychological emergency unit (CUMP) has been triggered.
