In the Alpes-Maritimes, a bus left the road on the morning of Friday January 12, before falling ten meters below, onto a railway track. Three people were injured.

In Levens (Alpes-Maritimes), a bus fell impressively around ten meters into the void. It fell around 9 a.m., Friday January 12, and had two teenagers and its driver on board. According to initial information, the driver hit the rocks along the road, swerved the wheel and lost control of his vehicle. “For an undetermined reason, the bus left the roadway and overturned”indicates Captain Pierre Binaud, of SDIS 06.

The railway is impassable

The two teenagers, aged 14, were transported to Lenval hospital in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes). One was seriously injured and the other lightly, just like the 31-year-old driver. As a result of the accident, the Provence railway track, on which the bus fell, is impassable. Significant maneuvers will be necessary to free it. “We are very lucky, there weren’t many people inside, no trains passed and no vehicles were impacted”declares Antoine Véran, mayor (Les Républicains) of Levens.
