On Friday January 28, in Schiltigheim, three firefighters were attacked by the victim they came to rescue. Wounded, one of the firefighters filed a complaint.
Around 8 p.m. on Friday January 28, a man physically and verbally assaulted the three firefighters who were rescuing him in Schiltigheim. Among them, a firefighter was injured in the hand and elbow. He has since filed a complaint.
Called for personal assistance, firefighters had to deal with an individual “aggressive from the start”, indicates the Bas-Rhin fire and rescue service (SDIS 67). The 40-year-old man was violent by insulting them and hitting them. He was then evacuated to hospital.
When contacted, the management of SDIS 67 indicated “take full measure of the situation” and “support their colleagues” assaulted. The firefighters wore body cameras during the intervention.
For several months, cases of attacks on firefighters in intervention have been accumulating in the region, as everywhere in France. The latest recorded by the SDIS 67 goes back as of December 21, 2021. Two fire crews had been the target of mortar fire, in Strasbourg and Bischwiller.
