Three firearms seized from man in Tingwick

A 51-year-old man was arrested and three firearms were seized from his home on Thursday morning in Tingwick, near Victoriaville, in Centre-du-Québec.

The search took place in a residence on Mont Gleason Road. On the spot, the police arrested Éric Garon Bernard.

In the residence, the police officers of the Estrie Regional Mixed Squad (ERM) discovered a loaded .12 caliber rifle, a .22 caliber revolver, a loaded .22 caliber rifle, about fifty methamphetamine tablets , a small amount of cocaine, about 40 boxes of ammunition and a knife with a retractable blade.

About twenty police officers took part in the operation, including members of the Sûreté du Québec tactical intervention group.

Éric Garon Bernard was scheduled to appear Thursday afternoon on charges of Possession of Narcotics for the Purpose of Trafficking, Careless Storage of Firearms, Illegal Possession of Firearms and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.

Garon Bernard had already pleaded guilty in 2017 to criminal charges relating to firearms.
