“I woke up this morning with a slight sore throat,” Christine St-Pierre announced on Twitter on Sunday. In the afternoon, I carried out a #Covid_19 test which is positive. I feel good and I will follow the health instructions to the letter,” tweeted the official opposition spokesperson for culture and communications.
A little earlier, Mr. Bonnardel had also made the announcement on social networks.
“Last night I experienced symptoms associated with COVID-19. I tested myself this morning and the result is [positif]. I place myself in isolation, ”announced the MP for Granby.
“So far, I only have mild symptoms. I will be working remotely for the next few days as recommended by public health,” he said.
The mayor of Laval, Stéphane Boyer, announced at the start of the day that he had contracted the virus. “I received a positive result for my screening test for COVID-19. I’m doing well. My symptoms are mild. I will be working remotely for the next few days in accordance with public health guidelines, ”wrote Mr. Boyer.
Deputy Prime Minister Geneviève Guilbault does not have COVID-19, but must still isolate herself as a precaution. Her 4-year-old daughter contracted the virus after experiencing symptoms on Sunday morning. “We did some tests. Hers is positive, she must isolate herself for 5 days. Mine is negative, but I have to take care of her, also self-isolate and work remotely,” she wrote on Twitter.
Several elected officials have contracted COVID-19 over the past week, as Quebec grapples with a rise in cases.
Prime Minister François Legault had also announced Thursday that he had a positive result for a screening test.
