Météo-France placed three departments on orange alert on Sunday, September 8. The Var and Alpes-Maritimes are affected by both alerts. The Manche region is only affected by the rain-flood alert.

The episode of Var and the Alpes-Maritimes “is not exceptional, an episode of this type occurring several times a yearnotes Météo-France. However, the risk of associated intense phenomena justifies particular vigilance.” Heavy rains are expected, with Météo-France reporting “locally about 80 mm in a short time”adding that “these storms will be accompanied by strong electrical activity”.

For the Channel, “Heavy showers are expected, bringing accumulations of 20 to 30 mm in the space of one to two hours”In total, the forecaster says he expects 40 to 50 mm of rain and locally up to 60 mm.
