A man stabbed, Monday, February 7, three customers of a hypermarket in Cherré-Au, near La Ferté-Bernard (Sarthe), reports France Bleu Maine. In the early afternoon, the man, aged about forty, attacked a nine-year-old girl and her grandmother on the shelves of the store. He then pulled out a bladed weapon and attacked a woman in her thirties whom he injured in the neck and hand.
A little before 3 p.m., the gendarmes tried to intervene. But the suspect turns the gun on himself in an attempt to end his life. The police manage to subdue him, but the man is seriously injured. He was hospitalized in Le Mans, in serious condition. The young woman with stab wounds was also hospitalized but her life is not in danger.
