Three minors were injured by shooting on Tuesday April 2 in a school in Vantaa, north of the Finnish capital Helsinki, and a suspect, also a minor, was arrested, police announced. The victims and the suspect are all aged 12, according to the authorities, cited by the daily Helsingin Sanomat. The arrest took place in Helsinki, after the shooter fled on foot, according to police.

The children were kept in their classroom and parents flocked in large numbers to the school, where they were taken care of by police officers, according to public television Yle. A crisis unit bringing together staff from the school and the municipality has been set up, according to Finnish media. The Vantaa school serves around 800 students across two sites, aged 7 to 15, according to its website.
