The day after. If Jonas Vingegaard has certainly secured his victory in this Tour de France 2023 on the slopes of the Col de la Loze, the 18th stage will be of a completely different ilk. The yellow jersey should stay warm in the peloton, he who now has a 7’35” lead over his rival Tadej Pogacar. Benched by the mountainous course for a week, the sprinters will regain control at the end of the 185 kilometers which separate Moûtiers and Bourg-en-Bresse, Thursday July 20.

If a breakaway should form, teams aiming for stage victory in a mass finish should drive and control the race, so as not to be trapped by runaways. Impressive since the start of the Grande Boucle, Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) will once again be the big favorite of the day, even if some like Bryan Coquard (Cofidis) or Dylan Groenewegen ( Team Jayco AlUla) will be keen to thwart his plans.
