The SQ on Friday confirmed figures obtained first by Noovo Info.

In all, 217 reports were made. Several of them were deemed unfounded, since they represented derogatory but not criminal remarks, the SQ said.

But all the same, we are talking about a total of 66 offences, including 47 crimes against the person and 19 crimes against property.

The issue of threats against candidates caused a stir at the start of the last election campaign. Several candidates have been the subject of threats, which had led the outgoing Prime Minister, François Legault, to establish an emergency line for candidates.

The Liberal MP for Saint-Laurent, Marwah Rizqy, had notably received death threats.
