“Arrested at his home, the suspect, a 44-year-old man from Sainte-Béatrix, was released and will appear on September 29 at the Joliette courthouse,” said the SQ press release. The Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP) “will determine the charge(s) to be filed”.

The investigation is still ongoing, says the SQ, and several suspects could be involved. “Everyone is free to express themselves, but in compliance with the law”, recalls the police force.

Mr. Lévesque denounced these publications earlier this week, saying he wants the individual who threatened him, who calls himself Klodo Paquette, not to be “criminalized”, but rather “to be sent the message that this is not is not acceptable, and that we send him help”.

The author of this image has also reproduced election posters full of blood from several other elected officials and CAQ candidates, including the Minister of Education, Jean-François Roberge.

At least three other CAQ candidates, Youri Chassin, Mario Asselin and Isabelle Lecours, were targeted by the Internet user. All footage was released on August 31. The user created his account in April, but has multiplied the publications in recent weeks.
