The Châteauguay Police Department (SPC) arrested five individuals in connection with the threats made on social networks against members of the personnel of the Louis-Philippe-Paré school.
Several schools in the Montreal area have been targeted by threats in recent days and the Louis-Philippe-Paré school was closed Monday due to a social media threat targeting staff members.
The Châteauguay police officers carried out searches that same day and arrested the suspects.
“The CPS takes every threat to a school very seriously. This is why there will be an increase in the police presence around the Louis-Philippe-Paré school in Châteauguay. Constant communications are also carried out with the school administration in order to reassure the students, the staff and the parents, ”reads a press release issued by the police.
Monday morning, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) arrested six teenagers, aged between 13 and 17, who also allegedly made threats against schools.
“It is a phenomenon of training on social networks that is at the origin of all this,” said Manuel Couture, sergeant of media relations at the SPVM.
