Raymond Têtu, this Outaouais conspirator in whom a veritable arsenal and drugs were discovered, will have to remain imprisoned during the legal proceedings since his file contains “very dangerous elements, very worrying for public safety”, ruled the court Tuesday.

The judge of the Court of Quebec, Anouk Desaulniers, determined that Raymond Têtu, 52, showed a “criminality which is serious, which is diversified and which is structured”.
Têtu was arrested on January 20 after a search of his home in Val-des-Monts, in the Outaouais region, discovered machine guns, large quantities of narcotics and $ 17,450 in counterfeit American banknotes.
“The accused still poses a danger to the safety of the public [et son] continued detention […] continues to be necessary, ”declared the judge in rendering her decision at the end of the Myers investigation of Têtu, namely the review of his bail investigation, Tuesday, at the Gatineau courthouse.
“The dangerousness presented by the accused is not counterbalanced by the release plan he is proposing,” she added.
Raymond Têtu’s lawyers had argued last month that if their client were to be released, he would have been with people at all times vouching for his behavior, in addition to wearing a geolocation bracelet on one foot.
But the magistrate judged the guards unconscious of the real danger that Têtu represents and mentioned the little impact that the geolocation bracelet would have in preventing the accused from reoffending.
“Obtaining firearms, putting dangerous words on the Internet, hiding automatic weapons in his home, trying to acquire silencers, all of this was allegedly committed from his home, so the fact that we can control his comings and goings […], it is of little use, ”said the presiding judge.
Judge Desaulniers has repeatedly stressed that the amalgamation of Têtu’s delinquent behavior is very worrying. “The concomitance of a call to arms [sur les réseaux sociaux] and the concomitance of shopping for automatic weapons on the internet is very worrying, ”she said.
In addition to the machine guns, drugs and counterfeit currency discovered at Raymond Têtu, he had threatened Justin Trudeau and his family with death on social networks. He also called on Canadians to civil war and wrote that he had to take up arms and “clean up” the Canadian Parliament.
Raymond Têtu will therefore remain behind bars while awaiting trial. His next court visit is scheduled for April.
