The Poly-Jeunesse school located on Sainte-Rose Boulevard in Laval was preventively confined on Tuesday, while the authorities investigated “threatening comments” of which the police were informed.
A large security perimeter has been deployed around the school.
In no case was there any question of an active shooter, Laval police quickly confirmed.
The police were in each of the premises to carry out checks.
Around 10:40 a.m., they determined the location was safe.
Despite this, students and staff remained confined indoors until around 2 p.m.
“Everyone is safe right now,” explained the school director, Daniel Racicot, around noon. I have no worries. I spoke to my colleagues inside, everything is fine. The students are safe.”
Several worried parents moved near the security perimeter.
“This situation follows a call received this morning and aims to ensure the safety of students and staff,” indicates the Laval School Service Center, in a communication sent to parents.
At the beginning of the afternoon, students were able to return home by taking the bus.
Nearly 1,800 children attend this school.
The Laval City Police Department (SPL) confirmed to TVA Nouvelles early in the evening that no arrests were made as part of this confinement.
