Faced with the flames which are getting closer and closer to homes, many people have had to leave their homes urgently, such as in Fort McMurray (Canada), where 9,600 hectares have already gone up in smoke around this city.
In central and western Canada, some residents are forced to leave their homes on Tuesday, May 14. The fires, out of control, devour the vegetation. In British Columbia, seen from an airplane, the landscape is reduced to mere fuel for several kilometers. Canadair passages, almost helpless, multiply. “What worries me most is that the fire comes to town and destroys it. I really don’t like to think about it, it’s my biggest fear”says Rob Fraiser, mayor of Fort Nelson, a city in British Columbia.
In Fort McMurray (Canada), an oil town surrounded by forests, the flames are getting closer and closer. They are only about ten kilometers away. Residents of this town in Alberta are evacuating by the thousands by taking to the road. In total, 9,600 hectares have already gone up in smoke around this city.
