Thousands of Racing Club de Strasbourg fans at supporters’ day after an ‘incredible’ season

They are struggling to come down to earth after this great season. Several thousand supporters from the Racing Club de Strasbourg came to the Meinau stadium on Sunday July 24 for the annual day which is traditionally dedicated to them. Dressed in blue and white, they were able to attend the players’ training on the pitch, but also signing sessions and the presentation of the new away shirt and the third shirt.

Alsatian club fans still have the 2021-2022 season in mind, described as “incredible” by most. Racing finished sixth in Ligue 1, one step behind European competition. The young Thélio, about ten years old, keeps a moment in mind: Dimitri Liénard’s goal which offers victory against Nantes. “The re-entrant crossbar was really nice, it bounced a lot!”

“One of the most beautiful seasons”

“I’m happy to be part of the generation that knows this kind of season”admits Yanis, who has been following Racing since the descent to National. “We haven’t really had a great season. All the old-timers told us that we were lucky because there aren’t often seasons like that. There, it shows that we are capable. ” “It’s true that there was this little spark, this little hope of doing great things”completes Cédric, who came with all his family subscribers to the club.

We must stop talking about maintenance, we must aim higher. – Alexis, a supporter

“It was without doubt one of Racing’s finest seasons,” says Christophe, a subscriber for 25 years. “There was intensity, play and a good place at the end. It’s been a very long time since I’ve seen a season like this. It’s proof that we know how to do things, and do them again The old ones often talk to me about 1979 and the title of champion of France. But this flame comes back!”

For the coming season, which will start on August 7 with the reception of Monaco, many hope above all that the club manages to stay in Ligue 1. Because the year will be very special, between the World Cup in Qatar in November and the relegation of four Ligue 1 clubs to the second division. But Alexis, he wants to see further. “For Racing, we can no longer talk about maintaining. We have to talk about Europe, about the top places. We deserve it and we have to do it with the players and the president we have”, concludes the supporter.
