Health pass fraud is on the rise. The Interior Ministry revealed that nearly 182,000 fake passes have been detected since its implementation this summer. A high number, and which could be even more.
Set up this summer, the health pass gives pride of place to fraudsters. Computer hacking of pharmacies or medical practices, identity theft of healthcare professionals, etc. All the means are good to obtain a false health pass. According to an assessment carried out by the Ministry of the Interior, 182,000 false health passes have been detected. Among them, passes purchased on the Web, False QR code, passes belonging to a third party or cases complicity of medical staff.
Faced with these frauds, the executive wants to be intransigent. In a press release from the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, health pass frauds are punishable by five years’ imprisonment and a fine of 75,000 euros. In front of the multiplicity of cases, the police and the gendarmerie have strengthened their digital investigations while other similar cases are currently being handled by justice.
