The company’s earnings per share were 47 cents US for the quarter ended Sept. 30, compared with a loss of 49 cents US for the third quarter a year ago.

Both quarters included significant reductions in the value of Thomson Reuters’ investment in the London Stock Exchange group. However, the most recent quarter benefited from gains related to foreign exchange contracts linked to part of this investment.

On an adjusted basis, Thomson Reuters said it earned 57 cents per share for the most recent quarter, compared to an adjusted profit of 46 cents in the third quarter last year.

Revenues totaled US$1.57 billion, down from US$1.53 billion in the third quarter of 2021.

Thomson Reuters chief executive Steve Hasker said that while the company acknowledged it was in an environment of growing macroeconomic uncertainty, its underlying businesses were resilient and remained focused on long-term investing.
