Thomas Ruyant reveals the secrets of his LinkedOut boat

Sylvain Charley: “On LinkedOut, what is your favorite place?”

Thomas Ruyant: “The place I prefer will be at the back of my cockpit, of course, when the conditions allow it. Standing at the back of my cockpit, nose to the wind.”

SC: “Where do you keep your phone?”

TR: “On the boat, I don’t have my phone, I have the boat’s phone, it saves me from having my personal phone connected on board. Very few people have the boat’s number. And this phone , so it is placed on the chart table.”

SC: “The place on the boat where you never go?”

TR: “The place where I never go, well there isn’t because I regularly carry out complete checks of the boat. But for example, all at the bow or all at the back, this are places that are not so easy to access.”

SC: “But do you ever go under the boat?”

TR: “I have a small camera at the front which allows me to have a view under the hull. I don’t need to dive to check things. But if for example the boat is caught in a net and that I can’t get rid of it after reversing, there, you have to ask yourself the question of going into the water but I am equipped for this type of intervention.”

SC: “The place where you cook?”

TR: “Well in fact, on this boat, I have a place where I do everything. From my bucket seat which swivels. In this seat I eat, I prepare the navigation, I rest. From this place, I can do almost everything.”

SC: “The place where you will celebrate a possible victory on the Route du Rhum?”

TR: “On deck. What is certain is that if we win this race I will want to enjoy it with everyone on the boat. And to welcome everyone, the best place is the bridge.”
