“Having been targeted ad hominem too often since I took office has certainly been a heavy insult, but I have also been comforted and encouraged by the support of the educational teams for their ministers all over the country”also declared Pap Ndiaye (around 23m15 in the video that follows).

The historian took advantage of his speech to talk about the “school time” and media time. “School time is not one of continuous information and social networks, epidermal reactions, overplayed indignation, and small sentences that slam”said the outgoing minister. “Faced with the diktat of the instantaneous, liked or hated, there must be room for reflection, dialogue, for taking into account the complexity of the world”he added.

“School time is about the strength of intelligence, the power of nuance in the face of slogans and cookie-cutter wordshe continued, before conceding: Basically, the school must remain at the antipodes of the political time in which we live and which is undoubtedly a little foreign to me. But precisely, my time is that of school.”
