The week has started rather despite Will Smith. On the night of Sunday to Monday, the comedian slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars because of a joke related to the haircut of his wife suffering from alopecia.
If the father of the family quickly apologized during the speech held after receiving the Oscar for best actor of the year, Will Smith again made his mea culpa on Instagram a few hours later.
“Violence in all its forms is toxic and destructive. My behavior at the Oscars last night was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally. I want to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I overstepped the mark and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions are not representative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness. I also want to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the participants and all the viewers around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams family and to the family of The Williams Method. On his side, Jada Pinkett simply posted a cryptic message which said a lot despite everything. However, the star’s wife never officially took to the matter.
