A new treatment that combines immunotherapy and chemotherapy is proving effective in treating cases of pregnancy cancer. Explanations.
Joyce’s birth is a small miracle, just like that of her brother. They almost never saw the light of day, because before their birth, their mother, Fanny Fournel, fought against a rare cancer: pregnancy cancer. At the end of 2019, the future mother fell pregnant for the first time, but instead of a baby, it was a tumor that appeared on the ultrasound. At 32, Fanny was the first in France to benefit from a new treatment: a combination of immunotherapy and chemotherapy.
After several months of treatment, it is deliverance. Not only is Fanny cured, but she has also been able to realize her dream: to become a mother. It is in the heart of the civil hospices of Lyon (Rhône) that this innovative therapy was developed for four years. It has a success rate of 96%. Doctors are already imagining the end of the disease.
