This Wednesday, March 2, Jean-Pierre Pernaut died of lung cancer as announced by his family. A lightning disappearance that pains millions of French people. The journalist left his mark on television thanks in particular to his 13-hour newscast, which he hosted for nearly 33 years. Until the end, his wife Nathalie Marquay will have accompanied and supported him in this fight against the disease.
The parents of Tom and Lou got married in June 2007, two years after the participation of the former Miss in the second season of The Celebrity Farm with in particular Daniel Ducruet.
A presence that has undermined the couple. “After a month of Farm Celebrities, there were noises outside, which said that we were living an adventure”, recalled the ex-beauty queen in the documentary Jean-Pierre Pernaut: 50 years in the hearts of the French on C8. “I say to myself: ‘With cameras, microphones everywhere, beds – I was next to Philippe Risoli and there was Régine not far -, of course sometimes we had a room where we could between us, but we were never allowed to stay there very very long. I can’t see myself hitting a guy when everyone could come back. I had a family, my husband, my children.
Her husband had tried to get her out. “I had a special call from Jean-Pierre. He asked me to leave the show. And then I asked him: ‘What’s going on?’ And he said to me: ‘I can’t tell you anything but you have to get out of the show’.”
She had finally remained until the end of the adventure, finishing 4th behind in particular Jordy, crowned winner of the edition. The latter defended the association Ti’toine who fights cancer.
This moment was “very difficult” for the couple who made the cover of many magazines. “There were 66 covers in two months, recalled the journalist’s wife. It was more than the death of the pope all the same.” The Pernaut spouses took legal action and “won all the lawsuits” they had brought. “With the money, we reimbursed our lawyer and the rest of the money, we gave it to the association (…) Thanks to this money, they were able to buy a machine for cancer research children. (…) I don’t regret having done La Ferme Celebrities.”
A blessing in disguise as she said!
